I love our family Christmas traditions. Every year we gather at one sibling's home. Everyone tries very hard to get there at some point in time. Some may have to come before Christmas and leave on that day, while others may arrive late on Christmas day and stay a while. Some are only able to come for one day. Whoever has the host home that year puts out flamingos. At some point in the gathering time we will play Trivial Pursuit. Certain foods made by family members are expected- Lindal's sausage gravy and biscuits, Tod's cheese ball and his potato dish, Darin's party mix, Jamie's spinach dip, oyster stew, my cookies and fudge are all mandatory. We do Christmas stockings- might not be on Christmas morning but will be when everyone has arrived. I look forward to this time of year all year long. I love my family and their crazy traditions.

I've been in this house about 15 years and unless I have something new I seem to put the same items in the same place every year. This year I felt it was time for a change. I started by moving the tree to a new location. Then I pretty much put things where they had been but when friends come over I have them move 3 to 5 items to a different location and tell me why they moved them. The place is starting to look different and it is a lot of fun. I'm really seeing my things that I love again and some decorations are simply being "retired".

I developed a mission statement when I began my business and updated it this year. My mission statement simply says that my mission is:
"helping people navigate through life changes by offering a supportive and structures approach to organizing time and space and developing skills to manage the changes in their time and space"
I have not had a lot of experience in developing mission statements and would be interested on comments on my statement or with people sharing their statements.

This past weekend, Len, Darin, and I went up to Johnson City, TN to see my nephew Tod in the opening production- Christmas Tuna- in the newly opened Blue Moon Dinner Theatre. The show was hilarious and the food was terrific. The Dinner Theatre has a 5 course meal offering at a formal dinner table setting. Wow! A special cake was brought to our table because my sister, her husband Lin, and his sister Jamie were also present and it was his parents wedding anniversary. I always enjoy getting together with my family and this was a really great weekend!
